Job Description :

The successful candidates will be expected to contribute to the range of work carried out in the UAE. This will include procurement management advice, commercial management of major projects, expert work, preparation of and response to time and money claims.

The positions offer the opportunity for advancement within the practice including the responsibility to manage others in connection with any commission for which the consultant is made responsible, and the opportunity to assist in business development activities.

Our client specialise in Procurement Management, Commercial Management and Dispute Resolution services to the construction, oil and gas, transportation and engineering industries. Due to their success in what is mainly Dispute and Claims work they where taken over by a larger global business advisory firm back in 2008. This now means the Group employ over 3000 staff based internationally including the UK, USA, and the Gulf.

The current economic climate has had a beneficial impact on their business growth specifically in the UAE. Up to a dozen Claims Consultants from Quantum and Forensic backgrounds are needed over the next 6-12 months to be based from Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

The positions provide the opportunity to assist in the delivery of in-house training programmes to clients for those who find this work of interest. This opportunity would suit enthusiastic and committed individuals with a desire to learn and to develop the experience already gained in this field.

Specific examples of projects are confidential due to the legal nature of the work however they are of a prestigious nature and high profile.

Essential requirements

Need to have 5-10 years experience in claims preparation, and dispute resolution.

Work is often in client offices so client facing skills are essential

Able to deal with reporting evidence as its nearly all is dispute work and producing reports - high attention of details is important.

Desirable requirements

A good first degree in engineering, construction or quantity surveying

Experience of expert work

Experience in the use of CPA software for delay analysis

A recognised construction professional qualification in Quantity surveying, engineering or building

A minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience

A sound knowledge of construction and contract law

A second degree in law or construction law or some other legal qualification

Hands on experience in dealing with commercial aspects of the construction process

Experience of delivering projects on site

Experience of claim preparation and response
